The dance piece “Blackout” addresses the inherent struggles of the human psyche and the inner conflict with one’s own demons. The choreography thrives on its contrasts: light and darkness, flowing and blocked movements, accompanied by a steadily increasing dark mood. The dancers’ movements become erratic and frantic, embodying the turbulence of fear and despair.

The shadowy lighting creates an interplay between visibility and concealment, underscoring the idea that the real struggle lies beneath the surface. The choreography illustrates the idea that confronting one’s own darkness is both a painful and transformative experience. The integration of music as a thematic element throughout the piece reveals the constant presence of life itself in the midst of darkness and becomes a poignant reminder that vulnerability is an essential part of human existence.
