The piece explores obscurantism, a term that refers to the deliberate withholding of knowledge. It also offers a reflection to which form this concept still applies in modern society.
As the first images unveil and the story starts, the audience dive in a reality full of contrasts, in which five men move between light and shadow, reality and illusion, ignorance and epiphany. A sort of micro-society where the men are confronted with their individual realities and the misinterpretations associated with a dogmatic worldview. The dancers navigate a complex environment and try to find a way to the truth. But this can be obscured, distorted, and even deliberately ignored.
“Obscurantismo” highlights our relationship to knowledge and truth in a world where the concealment and manipulation of information is omnipresent.
